COLOURLOCK® Supporting Products

COLOURLOCK® Primer (250ml / 1 Litre)

COLOURLOCK® Primer ensures adhesion between the leather, Colour, Filler or Liquid (Fluid) Leather. It’s sticky, sinks into the leather and creates a good adhesion. Primer can also be used to thin the leather colour (max. 30%) for aniline leather (such as garment and fashion leather) which need minor recolouring. This Primer has a very soft binder and reduces the use of colour considerably, which increases the softness of the leather.

Tips:

• The leather should be prepared by cleaning and sanding, before applying the primer. See our cleaning and sanding products.
• Apply Primer with a sponge or brush.
• The more open-pored a leather, the more primer should be used. This should be done with caution as the surface feel of the leather can be altered.

Read product label carefully for detailed instructions on use and handling of this or any other product.

COLOURLOCK® Top Coat (250 ml / 1 liter)

COLOURLOCK® Top Coat seals in colour at the end of a repair job. It gives leather's surface a protective layer against water and dirt, making it more resistant to regular wear and tear.

Top Coat is available in:

• Matt
• Gloss
• High Gloss

All three can be mixed with each other to achieve the desired finishing luster on the surface.

The Top Coat “High Gloss” is for surfaces which need a much higher degree of shine (such as patent leather) which the regular gloss doesn’t give.

Tip:

• Top Coat should always be mixed with Crosslinker before usage. The Crosslinker provides the necessary stability for the Top Coat.
• Skip the Crosslinker if the leather is a very soft aniline. In this case just dab on a little of the Top Coat.

Read product label carefully for detailed instructions on use and handling of this or any other product.

COLOURLOCK® Crosslinker (50 ml / 100 ml)

Crosslinker improves friction and protective qualities of Top Coat. Surfaces become more robust, and less Top Coat has to be added.

Soft leather surfaces:

• Add 1-2% Crosslinker to Top Coat.
• Add 1% Crosslinker to Top Coat, for soft furniture and garment leather.
• Add 2% Crosslinker to Top Coat , for robust car and furniture leather.
• Add 2% Crosslinker to the Leather colour.

Hard surfaces (such as dash boards, steering wheels):

• Add 5% Crosslinker to the Leather Colour
• Add 3% Crosslinker to Top Coat.

Soft vinyl upholstery:

• Add 3% Crosslinker in the colour and 3% in Top Coat.

Key Tips:

• The mixture of Top Coat and Crosslinker has to be stirred well and used quickly after mixing;
• Mix and apply in small batches;
• Always close the lid after use;
• Avoid getting Crosslinker in contact with water or humidity, as it reacts by hardening quickly.

Read product label carefully for detailed instructions on use and handling of this or any other product.

COLOURLOCK® Gloss (250 ml / 1 liter)

COLOURLOCK® Gloss is used to achieve a higher level of gloss. Add a maximum of 10% Gloss to the Leather Colour to make the result brighter. Gloss is neither recommended for mixing with Top Coat nor for application in its pure form, as it gets very hard and shatters. Top Coat “Gloss” or “High Gloss” is ideal for the final finishing.

Read product label carefully for detailed instructions on use and handling of this or any other product.

COLOURLOCK® Licker Oil

COLOURLOCK® Licker Oil is used to make dried and hardened old leather softer before it is professionally coloured. Licker oil is water-soluble and makes the colouring process easier.

How to:

• Make all required repairs with Filler or Liquid Leather;
• Mix 20% Licker Oil with 80% warm water;
• Wipe the leather with the mixture and let the product sink into the surface. The mixture can be applied with a sponge, a cloth or spray bottle on very open pored leathers or the back of leather.
• Repeat if necessary;
• Leave for at least 1 day (to allow the Licker Oil to sink into the leather) before moving on with the next steps in the treatment.

Good to know:

• Leather which is to be coloured after the treatment with Licker Oil should always be degreased with GLD-Solvent, Fat Absorber or Solvent Cleaner before the coloration.
• The leather won’t be as soft as new, but it will be much better and the risk of breaking will be reduced.
